HAWAII INFORMATION RESOURCES & OPPORTUNITIES

The American Red Cross is a humanitarian organization, led by volunteers, that provides relief to victims of disasters and helps people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies. The Red Cross began its presence in Hawaii in 1898 when 300 women, including Princess Kaiulani, organized the Red Cross Society to aid sick and wounded soldiers stopping here on transports from the Philippines during the Spanish-American War.
